Description
A coach house, stables, and gate piers dating from the mid-to-late 18th century, with alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed greenstone rubble with granite and brick dressings, covered by a slate roof with ridge tiles. A gable end stack with a brick shaft is visible on the right side of the main range. The building to the southeast has a hipped roof.
The buildings are arranged around a stable yard, accessed via two gate piers at the eastern entrance. The main north range contains a central coach house flanked by stables, with a heated room at the right end, possibly for groom's accommodation. A small, single-storey building to the southeast was originally a tack room with a loft above.
The north range is two storeys, with a symmetrical front where the central three bays project. The ground floor has a central coach entrance with an elliptical brick arch and granite keystone. Blind pointed arched windows with brick arches and granite keystones are located to the right and left of the entrance. The first floor has a central loading door with a flat brick arch. Flanking this are two 2-light casements with ogee arched lights, leaded glazing, and flat brick arches. The two bays to the left have been largely rebuilt in the 20th century but retain one pointed arched window at ground floor, with two ventilation openings above. The two bays to the right are two storeys and symmetrical, featuring two pointed arched doorways at ground floor with granite keystones and 20th-century doors with pointed fanlights. Above each doorway is a rectangular ventilator with granite jambs and a slate key. A lean-to building adjoins the right side, with a blind pointed arched window at ground floor with a brick arch and granite keystone and a matching ventilator above.
The tack room building is two storeys. The north front features a central door, with a late 18th-century 12-pane sash window to the right and left. The first floor has central 20th-century loading doors. The right side has a 20th-century window at ground floor, while the left side has a 20th-century door. A short wall is attached to the left, incorporating a pair of square granite piers, approximately 1.5 metres high, which form the entrance gateway.
The interior of the buildings has not been inspected.
