Range Of Farm Buildings Immediately West Of Bosvathick Farmhouse Including Privy Adjoining West

This is a range of late 19th-century farm buildings, including a barn, shippons (animal shelters), stables, cartsheds, and a privy for farm labourers. The buildings form an L-shaped layout around the farmyard, situated immediately west of Bosvathick Farmhouse. They are constructed from granite rubble with dressed granite quoins (cornerstones) and lintels, and feature yellow brick arches. The roofs are covered in scantle slate, with the barn roof being higher and having half-hipped ends. The north-west range has a central three-bay cart-shed with wide segmental yellow brick arches supported by square granite piers; a loft doorway is above this, flanked by windows. The stables on the right have a central doorway flanked by windows, with a further store or cart-shed to the right, exhibiting a yellow brick arch with a keyblock. The south-west range has a wide opening to the right with a dressed granite segmental arch, alongside shippon doorways, ventilation slits, and loft doorways and windows above. A single-story shippon is located at the left end. At the back of the north-west range, the barn projects and includes an external granite staircase leading to a central first-floor doorway. The privy, situated on the outer west corner, has a scantle slate hipped roof and is a simple earth closet draining into a field. The interior of the privy was inspected and features a shaft that connects to a field below. These buildings form part of a largely complete and unaltered late 19th-century farmstead belonging to the small Bosvathick estate.
