Description
The Holy Well at Chapel Farm is a Grade II listed structure dedicated to St James, dating from the late medieval period. It is constructed of granite rubble with dressed granite elements. The wellhouse is almost square in plan and is built over a field spring. It features granite rubble walls and a corbelled roof, which is now partly missing. The entrance has a 2-centred arch made from a single piece of granite, with slightly chamfered granite jambs. The well sump, which is also almost square in plan, is currently dry. This holy well is located near the Chapel of St James, which was first mentioned in 1422.
