Description

This is a house dating from around the middle of the 19th century, located on Foundry Hill in Hayle. The walls are stuccoed, and originally had a hipped roof covered in scantle slate tiles, although this is currently being replaced. There are brick chimneys on the left-hand side wall, over the cross walls, and at the gable end of a rear wing. Cast-iron ogee gutters are also present.

The house is arranged with a plan consisting of three rooms deep and two rooms wide facing the garden (and road). Behind the right-hand room is an axial entrance hall, leading to a stair hall behind the left-hand room. The original design likely included reception rooms at the rear, and a service wing or cottage to the right, accessed by its own separate entrance.

The garden front is asymmetrical, with two windows and no visible doorway. A stuccoed plinth and aprons are present below the window sills. The right-hand return wall presents a symmetrical façade with three windows, a central doorway, and blind windows on the left. To the right of this is a slightly later 19th-century cottage front, with a single window and a doorway on the left, within what appears to be an original porch. All windows are original 12-pane hornless sash windows. The interior was not inspected at the time of listing.
