Description

This is a headstone commemorating Mary Worthevale, located 9 meters north of the rood loft projection in the north aisle of the Church of St. Endelienta. It dates from 1770 and is made of rectangular slate. The headstone features an angel's head and has high-quality lettering. The inscription includes a verse that reads: "Kind Angels guard this bed of dust Till Jesus comes to raise the just Then may she make with sweet surprize And in our Saviours image rise." Mary Worthevale was formerly of Worthevale, which is referenced in connection with Worthevale Manor in Forrebury and Minster Parish.
