Description

Cogar Cottage and Philmar Cottage are a pair of 18th-century cottages located on Porthmeor Square. They are constructed of painted rubble with slate hung on the upper portions of the walls. The cottages have two storeys and four windows in total, featuring sash windows within moulded surrounds, and lacking glazing bars. A projecting bay is situated in the centre of the front elevation, with granite steps leading to the first floor, which originally housed the entrance. The cottages now have two modern ground floor doors. The roof is covered with slurried slate and displays gable ends. Cogar Cottage and Philmar Cottage, along with Norway Cottage, form a group. They also combine with The Old Salt House and Dragon Studio in Norway Lane to create another group.
