Description

A terrace of three houses located on Whiteladies Road, Clifton, dating from the mid-19th century. The buildings are now used as shops and offices. They are constructed of limestone ashlar, with party wall stacks and a concealed roof. Each house has a double-depth plan over three storeys, a basement, and an attic. They originally had a two-window arrangement. Number 91 features a 19th-century shop that projects the depth of the former garden. The ground floor of number 91 has banded detailing, a plat band, pilasters with acanthus capitals (paired at the ends and in groups of three to the party walls), a frieze, a modillion cornice, and pilasters to a moulded coping on the attic storey. The right-hand doorways have overlights and brackets to the transoms. The ground-floor windows are tripartite and feature pedimented lintels. Number 87 has an embayed bay, while numbers 87 and 89 have stone balconies with wrought-iron rails. Number 89 also has a tented verandah. The first floor has eared architraves and cornices with pediments. A sill band with blocks sits below the windows to the second floor, which contain 6/6-pane sashes. The attic windows are 3/3-pane sashes. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
