Description
The Coach House at Rodney Lodge is a building that dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. Originally built as stables, it is now a house. The exterior features a rendered finish with limestone dressings and a slate hipped roof. The building has a single-depth plan and is a single storey with a five-window range.
A prominent feature is a large semicircular carriage arch, which has imposts and a key, located in a coped wall between Rodney Lodge and the stable, set at right angles behind. The symmetrical front includes a central gable with a recessed segmental-arched doorway beneath a hay loft door. The windows are 6/6-pane sashes, with the outer windows set in semicircular-arched recesses. On the right-hand return facing the road, there is a large mid-19th century window with a moulded surround, roundels, a key, and a cornice, although it features 20th-century glazing. The interior has not been inspected. The building was formerly the stables for Rodney Lodge.
