Description
The boundary walls, railings, piers, and gates to St James' Park in Bristol date from the 19th century. They are made of cast and wrought iron, with walls constructed from Pennant rubble and limestone dressings. The park consists of two triangular areas separated by a narrow path. The walls are coursed towards the central path, and the railings feature urn finials. On the north side, there are a pair of capped gate piers flanking the path that leads to double gates with a criss-cross middle section. Above the path, there is a plain overthrow arch and a lamp. At the south end, there are single capped piers on each side. Historically, this area was formerly the graveyard of St James' Church and was laid out as a park in 1897.
