Description
This drinking fountain, dated 1877, is located on the north side of Stoke Road in Clifton, Bristol. It was commissioned by the Bath and West of England Agricultural Society. The fountain is constructed from Bath stone, with a Portland stone plinth and features dressings of Pennant stone, Mansfield stone, and granite. It has a rectangular plan and includes a large rectangular stele with a Pennant apron in front of the plinth. The fountain features a granite basin and Mansfield moulding that forms a semicircular arch, topped with a large key above a slate plaque. Additionally, there is a granite frieze adorned with terracotta animal heads, a heavy cornice, and a sloping top. The fountain was unveiled by Mayor George Edwards.
