GV II

Attached house. Early C18. Stucco over brick, gable stacks and a pantile roof. Double-depth plan. Early Georgian style. 3 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Left-hand doorway has a bracketed canopy, a rectangular fanlight and 4-panel door. Pedimented lintels with wreaths to the middle first-floor windows, rectangular 6/6-pane sashes in exposed frames; two C20 dormers. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached spear-headed wrought-iron front area railings and piers. Queen Square was built between 1701 and 1727, to varied width leases and similar designs. No.54 survived the destruction of much of the W side in the 1831 Reform Bill riots, but has added lintels like the 1833 replacements.
