Description

The Westmoreland Stable and Barn, dating from the mid-19th century, is located on Crow Lane in Henbury, Bristol. Constructed of squared coursed Lias stone with Pennant dressings, the building has a pantile roof. It follows an L-shaped, single-depth plan.

The symmetrical stable block is two stories high with a three-window facade. It features segmental-arched Pennant lintels above a 20th-century door and casement windows, and a semicircular-arched window above the door, set beneath a dormer gable. An external stone staircase to the left-hand gable leads to a first-floor door. The gables are finished with saddle-top copings and ball finials. A barn, projecting to the right, partly encloses a courtyard. The barn has late 20th-century windows.

The interior of both buildings has not been inspected and they have since been converted into residential accommodation. The building is included on the list for its group value.
