Description

The Georgian House, built around 1820, is a house that has been converted into an office. It features black stucco with limestone dressings, rendered lateral stacks, and a slate hipped roof. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in a Neoclassical style, comprising two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a three-window range.

The symmetrical front is divided into three sections by pilasters, with the entrance located in a two-storey semicircular-arched recess. This entrance includes paired subsidiary pilasters, a plate-glass overlight, and a six-panel door. The first floor has a central triple window separated by pilaster jambs, featuring 4/4-pane sash windows. The right-hand ground-floor windows are blind, while the remaining windows have 6/6-pane sashes. There are also two half dormers with casement windows.

On the rear elevation, there are paired outer pilasters, a first-floor sill band, and ground-floor semicircular-arched recesses, with the middle recess being blind and containing a niche. The right return of the building has a projecting stair block with a tall narrow stair light that includes glazing bars.

Inside, the entrance hall features a late 20th-century right-hand stair with stone steps and iron balusters, along with good marble fireplaces and a cast-iron Greek Revival-style fire basket. The doorways have panelled reveals, and there is a six-panel door and panelled shutters. The ground floor includes cornices and roses, and there is a service stairwell to the right.
