Description

This is a group of four Canford Estate cottages arranged as a symmetrical, picturesque terrace, dating from around 1850. The cottages are built of buff brick with stucco dressings and are designed in a Tudor style. Each cottage is two storeys high, with gabled frontages. The ground floor windows are 3-light units, while the first floor has 2-light windows and small, decorative vents at the apex. There is a single-storey section with 2-light windows, and gabled dormers are positioned between the cottages. The windows have decorative stucco window heads, Tudor hoodmoulds, mullions, arches to the lights, and sills. The roof has been retiled and features two large, clustered chimneys on the ridge, each originally containing six polygonal stacks with a cornice and pots, though these have been removed from one chimney. Nos 280 to 286 form a group.
