Description

The monument to John Weare is a chest tomb located immediately southwest of the west tower in the churchyard of the Church of St Andrew. It is likely from the 17th century and made of limestone. The tomb is described as having a mastaba shape and is approximately 6 feet long. It carries the inscription: "Here lyeth the body of John Weare of Little Canford. A Glover, who was buried here October 15 1667..." This is noted as the oldest grave in the churchyard. Although only the ledger slab is currently visible, the monument holds historic significance for the parish.
