Description

No. 11 St Anthony's Road is a suburban villa built around 1910, featuring pebble dash render and a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a layout of four by two bays, designed in the Arts and Crafts style. It includes wooden-mullioned windows with leaded lights and casements, with hoods over the ground-floor openings. The eaves overhang and reveal exposed rafter ends, and there are tall, swept-corniced chimney stacks.

The entrance front has two projecting bays under hipped roofs. Bay 4 features a projecting inglenook with three small windows on the ground floor and a lateral stack above. Bay 2 has a Diocletian window and a transomed four-light window above it. There is a round-arched internal porch under a hoodmould at bay 3, with a three-light window to the right and a transomed oriel window above. The roof is hipped, with chimneys located above the lateral stack in bay 4 and in the front roof pitch between bays 3 and 4.

At the rear, there are double doors in bay 2 with a lateral stack to the left, and to the right, a flat-roofed bay window and a hipped-roofed projection. There are also two lateral stacks and two chimneys on the right in the front roof pitch. The right return features two five-light windows on each floor. The interior has not been inspected. This house was part of an estate developed between 1907 and 1914, primarily to provide holiday homes for the Scottish gentry.
