Description

Number 18 is a house that has been converted into an office, dated 1797 on a hopper. It is built of Flemish bond brick with stucco dressings, featuring brick gable stacks and a tiled roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with an attic, displaying a three-window range. Each floor has plat bands, and there is a modillion cornice and parapet. Access to the building is via steps leading up to a prominent right-hand doorcase, which is adorned with attached Doric columns, entablature blocks with triglyphs, an open modillion pediment, a round-arched doorway, and a radial metal fanlight above a transom with an enriched tablet and a six-panel door.

The mid-20th century bowed shop front is styled in an early 19th-century manner. The first floor features gauged brick flat arches above six-over-six pane sashes and two-over-two pane sashes. The rear of the building has a first-floor cill band and cornice, along with a tablet inscribed "SV/2 MAY/1797." The interior, which connects with Number 20, has been altered in the mid-20th century and includes panelled shutters and reveals, as well as mid-20th century fireplaces. Originally, there was a central lateral dogleg stair with a winder stair leading to the attic, along with original fireplaces on the first floor.

The property also features attached iron front railings with urn finials leading up to the steps.
