Description
No. 19 Market Street is a house that has been converted into a hotel. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and underwent alterations in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick and features a slate roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a basement, displaying a three-window range.
On the ground floor, there is a moulded cornice above a left-hand flat-arched vehicular passage, and a lower cornice above the former shop front, which includes a left-hand doorway and a mid-20th century plate-glass window. The upper floors have blind middle windows, flanked by first-floor 6/6-pane sash windows and second-floor 3/6-pane sash windows. The interior has been altered and the building is connected internally to Nos. 21 and 23 Market Street. It is included in the register for its group value.
