Description
The Old Lodge is a lodge built around 1850, constructed from buff brick with a hipped roof featuring three rows of plain tiles and three rows of fish-scale tiles that alternate, along with decorative ridges. This picturesque and asymmetrical building retains its original decorative bargeboards. It is one storey with an attic, and the gabled front includes an oriel window above a tiled porch hood that covers a plank door set in a four-centred arch. This door is flanked by simplified unfluted Doric columns on heavy stopped-chamfer bases, with a single light casement window on the return. To the right, there is a two-light dormer above a two-light casement window in a raised surround. The right gabled return features a large square bay with a 1:3:1 light arrangement plus a transom. All windows have elongated octagonal shapes along with small square panes in the glazing bars. Above the bay, there is a plain plaster shield with a scroll that bears the lettering 'The Old Lodge'. The building is notably well-preserved with its original details.
