Description
Nos 244 to 248 on Windham Road are three artisan cottages that form a terrace in the Arts and Crafts style. Built as the Springbourne mission house of St Clement's Church in 1874, they were almost certainly designed by F D Sedding. The cottages feature a symmetrical center with a flat door hood supported by brackets and an inscription panel reading "RS 1874," which refers to Robert Scurfield, the curate of St Clement's. The buildings are constructed of pinkish brown brick and have segment-headed windows, with two white plaster gables above. The larger brick gable on the left has broad segment-headed windows on both floors, while the narrower gable on the right has smaller windows.
