Description
The pumping station at the Old Water Works, built around 1875, features buff brick with an appealing rough-cut texture. It has a tapered chimney that rises 80 feet and is capped heavily, making it a local landmark by the riverside. The building includes segment-headed blind arcades, some of which enclose segment-headed windows. It has undergone significant alterations and extensions, and the original hipped slate roof has been replaced with an asbestos-covered roof. There are also two outbuildings made of buff brick, featuring segment-headed windows and slate roofs. Additionally, there are modern extensions for coach repair works. The pumping station and the Superintendent's House at the Old Water Works are part of a group.
