Description

The Wight Preston monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 4 metres northwest of the porch of the Church of St. Mary in Stanton Drew. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a shaped top with a moulded edge and corner pilasters that have incised panels. There are paired inscriptions on the north and south sides, commemorating John Wight Preston, with the earliest decipherable date being 1773 and the date of death noted as 1803.
