Description
John Locke's Cottage is an early 17th-century building that was altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from rubble and features a pantiled roof with overhanging eaves. The cottage has two storeys and two bays, with 19th-century two- and three-light casement windows. There is a panelled and studded door on the right side. Inside, the cottage has wide stop-chamfered beams and an inglenook fireplace, along with a newel stair. It is strongly reputed to have been the home of the philosopher John Locke.
