Description
Poplar House is a mid-18th century house located on the north-west side of The Batch in Batheaston. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble with freestone dressings and raised quoins, topped by a hipped roof made of Cotswold stone slate. The building has three storeys and a basement, featuring three bays. The windows are large pane sash windows from the 19th century, with moulded architraves. The first-floor windows are supported by brackets and have a cornice above, with a pediment above the central window. The central entrance is a six-panel door located under a flat stone hood that rests on carved brackets, and it has a pulvinated frieze. The side elevation facing The Batch includes three closely spaced windows, with the first-floor window designed as a Venetian window.
