Description

This is a house, dated 1671, with additions from the 18th century and 1873. It is constructed of squared and coursed lias stone with stone dressings, an ashlar porch, and double Roman tile roofs. The original design consists of a three-bay wing, dating to the 17th century and running parallel to the road, to which a three-bay 19th-century addition has been made to the left. A rear extension from the 18th century and a further hand addition, plus a parallel 19th-century addition to the rear, form an irregular H-shaped plan.

The roadside front facade is two storeys high with six windows. The original 17th-century wing has three-light windows with ovolo mullions and hoodmoulds on the ground floor, and two-light, chamfered mullions with casements above. The 19th-century wing has three-light, chamfered mullions to the ground floor and two-light mullions above. A central 19th-century stone porch features rusticated side walls, Tuscan Doric piers, and a round-arched frieze to the parapet, with a 20th-century door. A gabled dormer is located on the left-hand side, with two lights and a ball finial. Ashlar stacks are present. A datestone is set into the south end wall. Group Value: The building contributes to the group value of the area.
