Description
No. 16 Crescent Lane is a coach house and stable block that now serves as the kitchen wing to Dower House (No. 15). It dates from the mid-19th century for the street front and has a late 18th-century garden front, which was altered in the late 20th century. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar and features hipped slate roofs.
The structure has a U-shaped plan with projecting forward wings on the street facade. It is two storeys high and has a four-window range. The first floor of the projecting wings has two windows, with two more facing the courtyard and one window on the right side of the ground floor. The courtyard is covered by a late 20th-century lean-to roof and is fronted by gatepiers with contemporary gates.
The garden front includes a coped parapet, a cornice, and a plate glass sash window on the left side of the first floor, with a blind window to the right. The central door, added in the 20th century, features a moulded architrave and a pediment supported by shaped consoles. The interior has not been inspected.
