Description
No. 1 is a house that is part of a semi-balanced terrace, built in the late 18th century and altered in the late 19th century. It features limestone ashlar, which is painted on the ground floor, and a Welsh slate roof. The building has a double depth plan with a staircase at the front.
The exterior consists of three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with two bays. The left bay projects in line with No. 2 Gloucester Street, while the right bay aligns with No. 2. The ground floor has a Doric pedimented doorcase with a six-panel door in the left bay, and a plain sash window in a splayed reveal to the right. There is a platband at the first floor level. The first floor contains two plain sash windows of different sizes, both with sills that are dropped below a continuous string course. The second floor has two plain sashes, with only the left one featuring a dropped sill. The building is topped with a cornice and a parapet, and has a mansard roof with stone verges and one dormer that includes a mullion and transom. There are shared ashlar stacks on the right side. The rear elevation has not been inspected.
