Description

This is a thirteen-house terrace, built around 1830, with later alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The houses are stepped steeply uphill. They are constructed from limestone ashlar with a mix of roof coverings—double-pitched slate and double Roman tile to numbers 3-7 and 11-15, and single-pitched to numbers 7A-10. Decorative moulded stacks flank left coped gable ends. The houses have double-depth plans.

The buildings are two storeys and have basements, with a one or two-window frontage. Stepped coped parapets rise over the left gable ends, and cornices are moulded, except at numbers 7A-11, which have eaves cornices. The front doors have narrow overlights, and most have late 19th-century plate glass sash windows. Number 3 has a double Roman tile roof, six/six-pane sash windows, and a flush four-panel door. Number 4 has a slate roof, plate glass sash windows, and a 20th-century four-panel door. Number 5 has a slate roof, six/six-pane sash windows, and a flush four-panel door. Number 6 has a double Roman tile roof, plate glass sash windows, and a half-glazed four-panel door. Number 7 has a double Roman tile roof, two/two-pane sash windows, and a six-panel door glazed to the top. Numbers 7A-10, dating to the later 19th century, have single-pitched double Roman tile roofs, plate glass sash windows, and 20th-century doors, with number 8 retaining its original flush four-panel door. Numbers 11-15 have a two-window range with double pitched double Roman tile roofs and cornices. Number 11 features paired ogee panels below the upper sills, margin panes in the ground floor plate glass sash window, a small horizontal two-light basement window, and a circa 1930 door. Number 12 has a six-panel door glazed to the top and a small horizontal basement window. Number 13 has 20th-century windows and a door. Number 14 has plate glass sash windows and a 20th-century door. Number 15’s right return has 20th-century windows and a door. The interiors were not inspected.
