Description
Dundas Horse Bridge is a horse bridge or crossover bridge located at the Kennet and Avon Canal in Claverton. It was built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The bridge features stone abutments with stone coping that support a flat span made of a cast-iron braced girder, topped with a concrete deck. The north wing walls are rebated to hold two integral wooden stop gates, one on each side. The Kennet and Avon Canal itself was constructed between 1794 and 1810, under the direction of principal engineer John Rennie.
