Description
Victoria Buildings consists of six terrace houses, some of which have added shops. They were built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The front facades are made of limestone ashlar, while the rear is constructed from squared and coursed stone, topped with concrete tile roofs. The buildings form a plain range with a double roof over an internal valley, and each house has its entrance on the left side, with a chimney stack on the right.
The terrace is three storeys high, with each house featuring two windows. Most have plain sash windows, except for No. 1, which retains twelve-pane sash windows on the first and second floors, along with continuous thin sill bands. No. 6 has its original four-panel door beneath a painted-over transom light, while the other houses have had flat-roofed shops added to the front in the late 19th century. The buildings display a slight frieze, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course. The gables are coped and return plain at each end, and there are six ridge stacks. The rear also features a simple cornice and blocking, with each house having two sash windows on the second floor above one window on the lower floors. The interiors were not inspected. These buildings are included for their group value as part of a long series of terraces along this section of Lower Bristol Road.
