Description
This is a turnpike boundary marker, dated 1827, located about 10 metres south west of the Red Post Inn in Peasedown St. John. Made of cast iron, the marker has a canted and hipped post, of which approximately 50 cm is currently visible. The visible text includes "CLANDOWN" on the right, "WELLOW" on the left, and vertically between them, "TURNPIKE TRUST" along with the date; however, it is now partially buried.
