Description
This is a group of three boundary posts located on the A367 at the junction with Combe Hay Lane. The first post is dated 1804 and is made of plain ashlar with a semi-circular head, featuring incised lettering that reads: "P/L AND W/1804". The second post, dated 1827, was created for the Bath Turnpike Trust. It is made of cast iron, triangular in shape with a half-pyramidal top, and has raised lettering that reads: "1827/WIDCOMBE - BATH TURNPIKE TRUST (up the body of the post and partly buried) - COMBE HAY". The third post is dated 1912, also made of cast iron, and is a narrow upright, triangular on plan. It has raised lettering along the sides that reads: "CITY OF BATH - SOMERSET".
