Description

Elm Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, featuring 19th-century alterations to an earlier building, which includes a 16th-century doorway and later 20th-century modifications. The structure is made of sandstone rubble with a limestone doorway, topped by a double Roman tiled roof with brick ridge and gable stacks. It is two storeys high and has three windows on the front. The ground floor includes two 2-light and two 3-light casements of irregular sizes, with the third window from the left having a segmental head. The door, located second from the right, features a 4-centred arched surround with roll-moulding and hollow-chamfer, along with trefoils in the spandrels and a hood mould. The first floor has three 2-light casements situated under the eaves. To the left, there is a single-storey addition with a 2-light metal casement. The right side of the building has a 2-light casement on the ground floor and two similar windows on the first floor. The rear of the farmhouse displays a variety of windows, including one 3-light, two 2-light, and one 4-pane light on the ground floor, as well as two 2-light casements and two small 20th-century windows under the eaves. The door, second from the left, has a timber lintel, and there is a small stair light in a chamfered wooden frame to the right. The addition to the left includes a door and a 4-pane window. The interior is not accessible. The 16th-century door was likely removed from Chew Court during the rebuilding process.
