Description
The terrace balustrade to the forecourt of Widcombe Manor dates from around 1727 and is constructed of ashlar stone. This elegant balustrade runs along the retaining wall that borders the forecourt, extending from the south-west corner of the main front of the manor. It features three and four panels that flank a short flight of stone steps leading down to a lower level on the west side. The panels are separated by square pedestals that are paneled and support large stone urns. At the southern end, away from the house, the balustrade returns towards the main entrance gates and is stopped by the boundary wall.
