Description

The Fowler monument is a headstone located in the churchyard about 23 metres southwest of the tower of the Church of St. Andrew in Chew Magna. This early 19th-century monument is made of limestone and features a round-topped design. The inscription commemorates William Fowler, who was "shot by an Highwayman on Dundry Hill June 14th 1814 aged 32 years." The monument is included for its historical interest.
