Description

This is a row of four houses, numbered 7 to 10, known as Victoria Buildings, including Victoria House at number 7. They were constructed in the mid-19th century, with later alterations made in the late 19th century. The houses are set back from the road. They are built of limestone ashlar, with number 8 painted, and have concrete tile roofs. The houses are two storeys high, with a double roof and a central valley gutter. Number 7 has a steeper roof pitch and an attic, potentially added later at the junction with the adjacent number 6. All the windows are plain or replacement sash windows, with two at the first floor and one on the ground floor of each house. Each has a door to the right. Number 7 features a late 19th-century gabled dormer, and numbers 7 and 8 have a canted ground floor bay with broad stone pilaster mullions and a pierced parapet. A mid-level platband is moulded and sweeps upwards towards number 7, terminating in a blocking course and parapet. Each house has a stack projecting forward from the ridge of the roof. The interiors have not been inspected. These houses are listed for their group value as part of a long terrace of buildings.
