Description
The Old Rectory is a house dating from the late 18th century, with possibly earlier origins and a mid-19th century extension. It is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings and ashlar, topped with a slate mansard roof featuring raised, coped verges. The building has two storeys and an attic, with four windows on the front. The first-floor windows are sashes, as are those in the lean-to ground floor extension, which has shallow recessed arches for both the windows and doors. There are two hipped dormers on the roof.
The projecting left wing is two storeys high with three windows, featuring sashes on the first floor, while the ground floor has been blocked and altered. The rear elevation includes four windows, plus two in a lower hipped wing to the right. The mansard roof is visible with four hipped dormers, while the remainder is obscured by a mid-19th century L-plan wing that has tripartite French windows below and similar sashes above, along with a plain parapet. The right wing contains 16-pane sashes and one 20th-century casement window.
