Description
Winsbury House is a house located on an ancient site, dated 1781, with alterations and extensions made in the early to mid-19th century. The north elevation, which was the former entrance, has three storeys and three windows, all framed in architraves. The ground and first floors feature paired sash windows flanking a blocked entrance, while the first floor has a single sash window. The second floor has a similar pattern with all windows having six panes. The elevation is topped with a cornice and a plain parapet.
The east return elevation includes a doorcase with a broken pediment, adorned with swags on the capitals of the pilasters, and a fanlight. This doorcase is flanked by six-pane sash windows, with two additional sashes above, one of which is in a later wing. There is a date plaque and a plain pentice balcony in front of the ground floor returns on the left, wrapping around the end of the hipped later wing. Above the balcony is a sash window, and below it is a tri-partite French door. Beyond this wing, two windows of the main block display sashes in architraves under drips, with a cornice and parapet above.
