Description
The village pump, trough, and railings are located in front of numbers 6 and 7 on Bath Road in Kelston. Dated 1858, this structure was created for the Inigo-Jones estate and is made of ashlar stone. It features plain Tuscan columns that support a pediment with a shield badge marked "IJ" on the tympanum. Between the columns, there is a low ashlar trough that is supplied with water from a pipe that spouts from a grotesque mask located on the back, beneath the date. To the left of the south column, there is a small round-headed niche. In front of the pump, there are cast-iron railings that are approximately 6 feet long, featuring three circular, capped uprights. This structure is part of an intact and unaltered mid-Victorian estate village.
