Description

Farmhouse. It has medieval origins, with a date of 1632 inscribed on it. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings, and has double Roman tile roofs. It is arranged in an L-shape. The south elevation has two storeys and a basement, with four windows. To the right is a gabled wing that projects forward; to the left is a four-light window with ovolo-moulded mullions, leaded lights, and a wider relieving arch above it. Below this is a partially buried ovolo-moulded basement window. Next to the basement window is a doorway with moulded jambs, a Tudor arch with dated shields in the spandrels, flanked by fluted pilasters and sunken panels below an ornamental frieze and cornice. Above the doorway is a two-light ovolo-moulded casement under a drip; to its left is a blank trefoil lancet and the remains of a window jamb. The next bay has similar three-light windows on both floors. The projecting wing has a three-light window on the first floor and a two-light window below, with two lights to the single window in the wing return. The west elevation has two storeys and three windows. To the left is a 19th-century segmental-headed doorway and window; to the right, the first floor has a 20th-century three-light casement, and below are two four-light windows with ovolo-moulded mullions under a drip. The north elevation has three windows with a range of two-, three-, and four-light windows similar to the south elevation. To the right, a gabled wing projects forward with two three-light windows. A flat-roofed two-storey porch with a 20th-century light above a 19th-century door in chamfered jambs is set into the wing return. The east gable has two two-light edge-moulded windows and a single-storey lean-to. The interior was not inspected.
