Description

Shoscombe Primary School and St Julian’s Church were built in 1868 and 1912. The buildings are constructed of rubble with stone slate roofs and a stone ridge. The school's extended hall is characterised by various gabled wings arranged in a picturesque style. The hall itself has a single storey and three windows, each with two or three lights and shouldered mullions. Later 20th-century louvred glazing is present in some windows. To the east, a further two bays were added, featuring similar windows with leaded glass and weathered buttresses, culminating in a three-light cusped east window to the chancel and choir. A bellcote marks this eastern junction. At the west end, gabled cross wings and a west wing are present, mirroring the tall, transmullioned windows of the hall. Lower porches with ogee-headed doors and drips are attached to the cross wings.
