Description

Hawthorn Cottage is a house dating to around 1790, with 20th-century additions. It is situated to the left end of Walcot Terrace, set back from the road. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar, with the roof material not visible, and features a moulded stack on the left side. The interior has not been inspected. The plan is of a double-depth configuration. The exterior presents a two-storey, three-window front, topped with a coped parapet, cornice, a first-floor sill band, and a ground-floor platband and plinth. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the centre, alongside six/six-pane sash windows with low sills, paired to the left. A building is depicted at this location on Harcourt Masters’s 1793 plan of Bath. The building possesses group value from this historical context.
