Description

This listing covers three terrace houses at 16, 17, and 18 Bedford Street. They date from the early 19th century and were likely rebuilt following flood damage in 1809. Later alterations occurred in the 20th century.

The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar and have double pitched pantile roofs with decorative stacks on the right-party walls. They are double-depth in plan. The facades are stepped uphill and feature low, coped parapets, stopped coved cornices, ground-floor platbands over timber bressummers, plinths, and doors to the left. Number 16 has a two-window front with six/six pane sash windows on the upper floors and a margin-paned six/six pane sash window on the ground floor. It has a six-panel door glazed with an iron knocker. Numbers 17 and 18 are single-window fronts, both with six/six pane sash windows featuring margin panes and a 20th-century door. The interiors have not been inspected.
