Description
The gates and piers at Upper Lodge, located north of Harptree Court, date from the early 19th century. They are made of ashlar and cast iron. The piers stand 2.5 meters high and are rectangular in shape, featuring fluted bases. The ashlar blocks are arranged alternately in a pattern of two headers and one stretcher, creating a chamfered rustication effect. Each pier has a projecting, intricately moulded cornice topped with ball finials. The gates consist of two leaves with fixed former pedestrian gates, and they include a central roundel frieze and arrowhead bars. Additionally, there is a quadrant garden fence with matching bars set on a limestone base.
