Description

A terrace of six houses, numbers 29 to 34 Thomas Street, was built around 1830. The houses are stepped downhill, beginning at number 29. They are constructed of limestone ashlar, with the lower floors painted. The roofs are not visible, and the houses have moulded stacks built into the party walls. Each house has a double-depth plan and two-window front, with three storeys and basements. Original features include parapets, cornices, lintel friezes, first-floor sill bands, and plinths with basement windows. The houses originally had six-pane sashes to the upper floors, eight-pane sashes to the ground floor, and set-back six-panel doors with overlights. Number 29 remains unaltered. Numbers 30 and 31 have plate glass sash windows. Number 32 has two-pane sashes to the second floor on the left and plate glass to the right, six-pane sashes to the first floor, and plate glass to the ground floor. Number 33 has a plate glass sash window on the ground floor. Number 34 is unaltered. The interiors have not been inspected. Numbers 29 to 36, along with numbers 1 to 4 Lyndhurst Place, The Chapel, numbers 20 to 26 and numbers 1 to 13 form a group. Numbers 1 to 13 also form a group with numbers 1 and 2 London Road.
