Description

Worcester Villas comprises a terrace of four cottages, built in the early to mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of limestone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs. The terrace is arranged as two pairs of double-depth cottages with narrow frontages. Each cottage has two storeys and a single window on each floor, featuring six-over-six sash windows without architraves. The front doors are six-panel affairs with two flush bottom panels and a rectangular fanlight above. The cottages have deep eaves, plain roofs, and shared ashlar stacks with chimney pots on the party walls. Number 1 was restored in 1982, and Number 4 was extended to the rear in 1996. The rear elevation is not visible. The interior has not been inspected. These cottages represent a late Georgian development of relatively modest homes, set back from the road behind front gardens. Their crisp ashlar facades and regular arrangement contribute significantly to their appearance.
