Description

Nos. 9-15 on Lyncombe Hill are four terrace houses built in the early 19th century. They are made of limestone ashlar with tile or slate roofs and are arranged in a stepped formation to follow the slope of the street. Each house has three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with one window on each level.

The first pair of houses features nine-pane dormers above twelve-pane sash windows, with a sill band at the second floor. No. 9 has a later sixteen-pane panelled door accessed by three stone steps, and narrow paired sashes in a mullion box. No. 11 has a panelled door with a transom light. The upper pair has a dormer with paired sashes, with glazing bars on No. 15, above twelve-pane sashes. The ground floor of No. 11 has narrow paired glazing bar sashes with wood mullion boxes, while Nos. 13 and 15 have full-width panelled doors with transom lights. The ground floor features a continuous fascia board, and to the right of the end house, there is a single-storey extension with a plank door leading to a throughway. Nos. 11, 13, and 15 have grilles over their basement windows.

The houses have a first-floor platband, cornice, blocking course, and parapet, with four ashlar chimney stacks. The left side is plain, and the rear overlooks a former graveyard, featuring double Roman tiles on Nos. 9 and 11, with paired twelve-pane and nine-pane dormers above plain and paired twelve-pane sashes. The interiors have not been inspected. These houses are separated from the similar adjacent Nos. 1-5 by an access-way to the former graveyard.
