Description

This is an irregular pair of cottages, likely dating to the 18th century or earlier. They are evidently timber-framed. Each cottage has a two-storey gabled front; the front of number 26 is angled back, following the curve of the street. The cottages are painted with rendered surfaces. Each has one sash window of Victorian design above and a Victorian or later shopfront below. The roofs have been re-tiled. An external chimney is located at the north end, with the upper part removed, and a single offset below. Number 26 extends less far to the rear than number 28, but has a smaller gable extension. The exposed timbers of the ground floor interior show considerable renewal.
