Description
Park Crescent comprises a terrace of fourteen houses built between 1829 and 1830, designed by Amon Henry Wilds. The houses are arranged in groups of three, with the central house of each group slightly projecting. They are three storeys high and feature three windows each.
The facades are stuccoed. The projecting central houses have pilasters rising from the ground floor to the first floor, adorned with Corinthian capitals featuring honeysuckle leaves. Above these capitals is an entablature with garland ornamentation to the frieze. The second storey has smaller, plain pilasters, round-headed windows, and a pediment above. The outer houses have a stringcourse above the ground floor and a cornice with garland ornamentation in the frieze, creating a castellation effect that acts as a balustrade in front of the second-floor windows. The outermost windows of these outer houses are recessed. The ground floor features pairs of porches with caryatid columns, and some have been fitted with balconies above, some of which are now glazed. Iron balconies have been added to some of the houses.
The windows are set in frames, with the ground floor windows having entablatures above them and the central houses' windows featuring semi-circular panels above. Some glazing bars are missing. All doors have rectangular fanlights.
Nos. 1 to 14, along with a gateway and lodges, form a group with Beechwood Hall.
