Description
Beechwood Hall is a private hotel located on Park Crescent, originally built as part of the development known as North and South Swiss Cottages. It is likely that it was constructed around the same time and by the same architect. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, and is faced with roughcast. It features a red tiled roof that slopes down to the ground floor on the south side, creating a veranda supported by square trellised wooden columns and a cornice. The windows have oriental-shaped lights inspired by the Pavilion in Brighton. The east front has projecting porches, with the central one being modern, and rustic wooden balconies above them, along with an outside staircase leading to one of the balconies. The building has hipped gables with scalloped bargeboards and dormer windows on the second floor, which were likely added later. There is also a pointed turret and chimneys adorned with twisted or zig-zag ornamentation. Beechwood Hall, along with Nos 1 to 14 and the gateway and lodges, forms a group of buildings of architectural significance.
